Meriel began working as a communications consultant with clients such as Orange, Dun and Bradstreet, UBS Warburg, Standard and Poors, Oracle and AstraZeneca. She has worked on a large variety of projects, including new business pitches, internal brand workshops, training seminars and venture capital presentations.

Before moving into communications consultancy, Meriel worked for Barclays plc as a member of the Management Development Programme, gaining experience in all areas of the bank including Private Banking in the Cayman Islands. She then moved into human resources and training, with responsibility for graduate development.

Meriel is qualified as a Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers and a graduate of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. She has a degree in International Business and German. She speaks English, French, German and Dutch.
